For anyone on my f-list who's also a SPN fan, if you could pop over here and take a look at THIS POST, maybe fill out the survey involved to help out the lovely people in charge of this anthology, that would be much appreciated!

For some reason I was fortunate enough to make the author cut and while I'm rapidly becoming disillusioned with the show itself I am by no means that way with the many talented writers who are going to make this thing amazing - so if you could be so kind as to repost or give feedback where you can, much appreciated!

Because I've been feeling very much in a slump lately, both in RL and in writing, something a little different thanks to the interesting little Dreamwidth comm [community profile] genprompt_bingo . Writing has always helped me with depression, but that's not exactly doing any good if I'm not overly inspired by anything currently on my plate right now.

Card may (and hopefully will) encompass a variety of fandoms, and fics must be at least 100 words.

So, in between my freelance writing gigs (I actually do get paid a little bit now for a few things, go me!  woot woot) I've been trying to finish a Sherlock fic request for one of the lovely people who donated to the GoFundMe campaign I talked about a while back, and since I got stuck a couple days ago I thought I would try to jostle loose my writer's block by filling a short meme prompt over at [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time.

As that's now turned into 8500 words, that kind of succeeded, I guess, but wasn't what I planned on...

Anyway, while writing, something occurred to me, and as I'm by no means a walking canon in the SPN fandom, I thought I'd see if anyone on my f-list has any insight as to something I might be missing (I don't have time to go back and re-watch entire seasons, thank you).

SPN: paradox or just plot hole? )

Friends and Fellow Fans,

I've not been around much, as you're probably aware, as this time of year is hectic for me being in salaried retail management.  Coming into the holiday season, and especially beginning last month, I have had very little free time, and thus haven't been around much online or in fandom at all.  That isn't likely to change through December, but at least the worst of it is likely over now that Black Friday has passed.

But I come to my readers now, if they're still out there somewhere, with a request.  In times past I've had a fairly extensive readership in various fandoms, and if even a fraction of those can participate or spread the word I would be greatly appreciative.

A young couple, friends of mine from the church I have attended for over a year now, have a three-year-old son who is now battling his second round of leukemia, and after two months of treatment it is looking likely that they might lose him right before Christmas.  The boy's name is Landyn; he had been in remission for over a year when the leukemia returned last fall unexpectedly.  Unfortunately, he just isn't responding well at all to treatment this time around.  His parents also have a two-year-old son, to whom they are having to explain why his big brother isn't coming home at night anymore and is so sick he can't do much anymore.  It's just all-round, a generally horrible situation, and isn't going to get any better through the holidays.

They are an extremely private family, and as such aren't wanting any type of public help from anyone, financially or otherwise, though they desperately need it.  I'm not able to do anything for them financially as my own financial state has been far too tight for many months now, but I did set up a GoFundMe page for them without any personal information on it, just basically using my LJ information.  (It's just www.gofundme.com/kcscribbler for now.)  I'm just throwing this out there, for anyone who may be looking for somewhere to put your holiday charitable contributions - there is no more worthy family than this one; they are good people, very good people.  They're hard-working, honest parents, and they want to raise good kids; they literally have nothing, and this came out of the blue to their little boy just a few months ago.  If you are looking for an opportunity to contribute to someone's well-being at the holidays, they are certainly people who would be worth it.

I can't give money at the moment but I can, however, give time, and so I'm offering to any readers I may still have out there to match my time with your donation if you are so inclined: for every $1 donated, I'll write you 100 words in the fandom of your choice.  Donate $1, and you get a drabble.  $10, and you'll get a 1000-word oneshot, $25 = 2500 words, and so on.

I have an extensive knowledge of the following fandoms: Sherlock Holmes (Doyle bookverse), Sherlock, Supernatural, Star Trek: The Original Series (including Animated Original Series)

I have a solid working knowledge of the following fandoms: Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (2009, STID), Merlin (BBC), Hogan's Heroes, all DCAUs including JLU, BTAS, STAS, BB, etc., Classic Star Wars (primarily Original Trilogy), The Big Bang Theory, X-Files

I have a foundational knowledge of the following fandoms: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Doctor Who (Ninth Doctor onward only, unfortunately, and primarily Nine and Eleven), pretty much anything classic Disney but not necessarily Pixar (ask me), Mission Impossible (TV, not movie)

Anything else you think I might have seen and could write, please feel free to ask and I will do my absolute best. My only request would be that you not throw at me a fandom in which I have absolutely no experience whatsoever, as that would be neither productive nor enjoyable for either of us.  I'd like to do what I can to thank anyone who could spare even something for this family that's been through far too much.

I realize that without personal information and pictures no one has any real guarantee that my story is even true, but it unfortunately is and no amount of arguing the fact here is going to change that.  My friends will probably be spending Christmas trying to explain to their two-year-old why his big brother won't be coming home again, and it breaks my heart.  I need the writing therapy, and frankly they desperately need the money for the expenses that are piling up, not to mention the fact that they have no money for Christmas presents for the kids.

Those of you who know me well enough to trust me and would be willing to make this family part of your holiday charitable giving, I would be eternally grateful to.  Please, those of you who are on Tumblr or elsewhere (I am not) and feel you could trust me enough to reblog this, I would also be grateful for.

Make sure you tell your family how much you love them this holiday season!  Stay safe, and thank you!

EDIT 12/06/14 Noon
I've been told a few hours ago that unfortunately the doctors at the Children's Hospital have notified the family that, despite the lockdown measures against germs and infection this time of year, they aren't expecting the little boy to live much longer than next week; he's just not responding any longer to the treatment.  The family is going to try to have a sort of Christmas if he regains more awareness, so anything you could do in these last days would be even more greatly appreciated, I am sure; if not for that, then for the days and expenses to follow, or for the holidays coming up for the remaining child in the family.

Thank you once again to all who have donated so far; I can't thank you enough but I will find a way to try, soon.

Star Trek friends, I really would like to write something of substance today on my day off, but I find I'm running low on inspiration these days due to various factors.

Anyone have something they'd like to see me tackle in particular?  However odd or cracky, I'd love to get something that sparks my languishing imagination.  *puppy eyes*

I understand not agreeing with a story, and even understand anon-ing to leave a not-so-kind review, but three successive reviews for the same chapter?  Considering it took longer to type the reviews than to read the drabbles, isn't that a bit much?

I guess I've been duly told.  *eyeroll*

It's not even worth taking my time to address the issues with the stories themselves, but one of my worst pet peeves is this:  if you have a potty mouth, that's your business, but keep it out of my stories' feedback, ok sweetie?

C'mon, you guys.  You have until December 15 to complete a bingo, so let's do this!  It's perfect for people like me who like to write missing scenes and snippets.  ^_^

I did hc_bingo just for my own benefit, not because I'll ever really post the HC bingoes, and I gave up  schmoop_bingo because I got a card full of prompts that can't be done in a gen format without being ridiculous.

So, my new project.

So, I've read all the rules and so on of the official site, and I'm not sure I want to actually join the site anyhow (Lord knows I waste enough time on one social networking site - LJ - without tempting myself with another).

I've not had a chance to even think about an outline for the thing, but I think it would be a really good idea to do it at least once. And this year would be perfect, because the school is getting the entire Thanksgiving week off, because we don't get a fall break this year. That would help if I find I'm falling behind.

But the official site says you can't come with anything other than an outline; no pre-written fic. But since I'm probably not going to do the official site anyhow, I'm not paying attention to that rule precisely.

I have a few options that I've been contemplating for several weeks now. My first NNWM I want to do something easier, like a fanfiction - all my original fiction is only novellette length, and targeted toward young readers; not enough material for a novel.

Opinions?

Prompt #21 - Worry

Episode: Tabula Rasa

“If you don’t stop pacing, I’m gonna get Diana’s lasso and tie you to that chair.”

“This is not funny! Do you have any idea how hard he hit you with that?”

Superman sighed, adjusting his new cape. That had been a bad few minutes, when after Luthor was in custody he finally realized his suit was still embedded with enough Kryptonite-dust to make him pretty dizzy. He was lucky that the chunk hadn’t been bigger, and also that Bruce had realized what happened after he fell from fifty feet up while heading home.

“You didn’t know,” he now remonstrated with a very angry Batman.

“I should have. He got our strengths, our weaknesses, turned the weaknesses into strengths. I should have seen that.”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, Bruce,” he sighed. “If I can forget about it, why can’t you?”

A growl. “Because it’s too important.”

“Aww…”

“Shut up, Clark.”

I've been seeing this meme make the rounds on my f-list, and I took advantage of it when [livejournal.com profile] elaby was kind enough to make the offer.  Technically the meme apparently requires that the recipient return the favor; [livejournal.com profile] elaby did not require it but turn about is fair play, and besides - my muse is still AWOL and refusing to return, so what better way to get it back than starting out small.

So, the meme, in short:  The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character/scene/genre (from one of my usual fandoms - in my poor case, Sherlock Holmes or any of the DC Comics DCAUs; Justice League, JLU, BTAS, STAS, etc.).

My small addendums:

1.  Please, feel free to be specific as you want regarding scene and any details; with an uncooperative muse, the more specific, the easier it is.

2.  Technically a drabble is 100 words; please indicate if you would like longer than that; probably up to 400 I think for now.

3.  Of course, no slash requests please.

So then.  It may take a while to complete requests, but I have never abandoned a story and I will get them done.  Yay for temporary unemployment.  :)

The usual:

1. No hotlinking.
2. Please credit when used and comment if taking.
3. Textless icons may be used as bases, just comment to let me know you took them.
4. All photos are either mine or are from morguefile.com. Disney screencaps are from magicalscreencaps.com
5. The My Scribblings (see default above) icon and the Writer icon I have saved as a template, and would be willing to make requests. Comment to this post with the name and/or text (scribblings, journal, diary, etc.) you would like on the icon as well as what color scheme you would like it to be.
