Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers for Whom Gods Destroy. And thereby, foreshadowing for Requiem for Methusaleh, or my attempts at explaining the end scene of that episode.

Summary: After the events on Elba II, more than just a game is fought over a chessboard by the captain and first officer of the Enterprise.

A/N: I'd forgotten what a classic TOS story this one is, overlooked and sandwiched between some less-than-stellar episodes as were common in Season Three. There are some really great character moments in it, and some ludicrously laughable plot points combined with a disturbing storyline – crucial components that make this show what it is. Definitely worth a rewatch if you've forgotten about it like I had.

Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers for Day of the Dove. Warning for discussion of subjects such as racism which that episode tackled with a bluntness that would probably not fly on television today, including unacceptably derogatory language.
Summary: In a war, there inevitably is friendly fire – but that does not negate its damage, or lessen the time and effort it takes to heal afterwards.

Summary: Spock and McCoy bond over the aftermath of Khan's takeover.

A/N: Upon a rewatch of this episode, my first rewatch actually, I found it very interesting for several reasons – one, again noting the unusual dichotomy of how unfortunately sexist some scenes are (like the 'waitressing' at the dinner, and how unnecessary Scott specifying how many of Khan's surviving crew were women just sat wrong with me) and how very non-sexist Captain Kirk is, in reprimanding Lt. McGivers and in not repeating Scott's specification when informing Spock of the same numbers.

And two, frankly I found the command crew to be a little less than impressive, honestly; other than McCoy's spectacular first scene with Khan in Sickbay and Scott's taking advantage of the gas to escape the room they were being held in. They should have been able to do better both in prevention and in fighting back, in my opinion, rather than just basically being sitting ducks for the whole episode, and I had to at least have someone address it for my own sanity's sake.

Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers for The Immunity Syndrome. Brief mention of off-screen minor character death, ie. the Intrepid.

Summary: Captain Kirk has been abruptly awakened by many things over his captaincy, but this is the first time he's woken up to these particular two department heads simultaneously eating breakfast and biffling over a pet science project in his cabin.

A/N: I think even the best of Triumvirate fans forgets at times, just how smart McCoy really has to be, to hold the position he does – not just across the board medically, but scientifically. If he were not, I doubt that Spock would actually tolerate his presence, much less welcome it. This episode has always been a favorite of mine because it highlights both of them as equals in the scientific field – both with an equal love of the unknown, both with equal knowledge needed to complete a very science-based mission, and neither perfect but rather relying on experimentation like any scientist would.

Totally unrelated: This was the first time I've seen this episode remastered, and it's worth a rewatch for that alone; the remastered space shots are actually very cool.

Warnings/Spoilers: Spoilers for The Alternative Factor. (Wait, that was an episode title, you say?)

Summary: Let's just say that First Officer Spock was less than thrilled with the fact that Lazarus not only set the ship on fire and stole their dilithium crystals, but also ended up sending their captain into a completely unknown antimatter universe with no known method of retrieval. One guess as to which offense he found more forgivable. Slice-of-life fic, a look at the follow-up of a mission with repercussions both mechanical and emotional.

A/N, for those who have no clue what this episode was about: Man, this has to be one of the most cringe-worthy episodes ever scripted and special-effected, though there are some redeeming moments, if you don't want to rewatch the thing in its entire awful glory. Spock's "Why you mad" face when telling their new acquaintance he's only made the logical conclusion the man's a liar is hilarious, and there's a beautiful little conversation between Kirk and Spock in a briefing room where they talk through the mission – the dialogue's a little clunky at times but there's a really lovely informality in the exchange that speaks a lot about their relationship development in this early first season. Opening scene, closing scene, and those two scenes, and you can skip the rest, really – though you really shouldn't, since this was one of the sadly few TOS episodes to feature a female command officer of color, Lieutenant Masters. Why she was wearing Science Blue instead of Engineering Red is anyone's guess, lol.

Summary: After the events on Vulcan, First Officer Spock has the Vulcan equivalent of a minor meltdown and decides that the Enterprise is no longer the best assignment for his Starfleet posting. But there is a reason why new recruits are warned by senior officers never to play poker with the captain of the Enterprise; Spock should have known better than to think his bluff would ever succeed against this particular human.

A/N: I'm sailing along merrily on my NaNoWriMo, but my brain has become fried with my original fiction and needed a short break after 16,000 words of almost nonstop scribbling, so have a little snippet after watching BBCAmerica's reruns last night. Such a shame that this comes so much easier, 4000+ words in just a couple hours, while actual original fic takes so much longer... ah well. Back to the scribbling board for me. A happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it shortly!

Summary: Just a bit of wrap-up I feel needed to be done. No doubt it's been done before, and by much better writers than I, but this is after all my missing scene series so my playground, my rules. :p

A/N: This will likely be the last of these or any other fanfictions by me for a while, as I am currently working two jobs in addition to helping a friend self-publish a textbook – as well as attempting NaNoWriMo for the first time in years, with an original fiction for the very first time. So until December, other than the odd ficlet here and there, a temporary adieu to all of you and thank you for continuing to read these little scribbles!

Warnings/Spoilers: Vague spoilers for Where No Man Has Gone Before – the first episode chronologically after the pilot, though the third to air. There's a lot of fandom uncertainty and speculation as to the timeline of events which happened during this particular time period, and this is the sequence I've always gone with in my own head-canon as it makes the most sense according to what I see on-screen; however, it's not the only school of thought out there and so if you differ in opinion, I respect that – neither of us is right or wrong and this is simply what all fanfiction is – fiction.

Summary: After an away mission gone wrong, Spock reflects upon the captaincy turnover, and how in just a few months, two humans in particular have upended over ten years' worth of habits built aboard the Enterprise. Slice-of-life, nothing really whatsoever to do with the above-mentioned episode and its god-awful mustard uniform choices.

Summary: The captain of the Enterprise does not want to be bothered tonight. Fortunately for him, his direct subordinates never have been the best at taking that particular hint.
A/N: I could never remember this episode's title, so for people who don't want to Memory Alpha it – so in a very small nutshell it's the one with the glowing ball things that held an alien race's consciousness, who wanted to borrow the Enterprise's officers' bodies to build robot bodies, only to then decide they didn't want to give back Spock's body so Kirk had McCoy poison him. That one.

Summary: The Enterprise Triumvirate don't fight very often, but when they do? As the alpha shift bridge crew would tell you, just duck and run for cover until it's over.
A/N: This episode. Geez. So much has already been written about it, but it's such a crucial one I think to these three's relationships and very little was done to address that. To break from the angst of the episode and previous oneshots, a slightly tongue-in-cheek way of doing that here.

Warnings/SpoilersErrand of Mercy.  I prefer to over-warn, so I suppose this could be triggering for mentions of power-of-attorney type decisions, mental health, etc. as threatened in that episode.  I personally believe as I think most people probably do, that life ceases to function when there is no brain activity; however, if you believe otherwise, you may not want to read this one as it deals with the term ‘vegetative state’ and your sense of right and wrong may depend on where you land in that debate.
Summary:  Doctor McCoy hears about the events on the Organian planet and has a rather disturbing conversation with the Enterprise’s First Officer.
A/N:  Like the show itself, these bits and pieces will sometimes be heavier matters, before returning to regularly scheduled fluff.

Warnings/SpoilersThe Devil in the Dark
Summary:  Spock should know better than to directly contradict an order in front of the man who gave it.  James Kirk should know better than to order his First out of the line of danger with so flimsy an excuse as technical expertise.  Fortunately for the Enterprise and their relationship, they are both better tacticians than they displayed in this, their not so finest hour.
A/N: I’ve always had a fondness for this episode, as it was the first TOS episode I ever watched in its entirety – and it was probably the perfect one to draw me in and immediately cement in my mind just exactly who and what this show was about.  So after Beyond re-sparked my interest in this fandom, it was only appropriate that I begin my re-watch as I began so many years ago; realizing anew that this was really such a good show.
