Characters:  Clark Kent/Superman, Bruce Wayne/Batman, Lois Lane
Pairings:  implied SM/LL
Rating: K+
Word Count:  3800~
Warnings/Spoilers:  As usual, I'm a detail nut, and anything in the established (Toonami) DCAU canon (meaning STAS, BTAS, JLU, and BB) is possibly and probably referenced.  Specific episodic spoilers for the events of Hereafter.  Also, in my personal headcanon, Lois pretty much is smart enough to know who Clark Kent is, she just likes making him squirm.  :P
Summary:  Shameless wrap-up fluff & h/c scene for the aftermath of Hereafter, just for the heck of it.
Explanation:  This was the original oneshot which sparked my as yet unfinished chaptered fic, Hereaftermath.  I've come to the realization that I probably will never finish that story, simply because I have pages and pages of scattered scenes between the completed three chapters and this, and no real threads to connect them with.
A/N:  I could have left this as a missing scene instead of turning it into a scientific analysis of what had to have happened in the episode, and due to recent comments from old readers of mine, asking if I'll ever write for this 'verse again, I decided to just put this up as a oneshot and thank my old readers for loving my own childhood universes as much as I do.  Brought back to mind by the recent resurgence of interest in the DCAU due to several new movies, here's probably my last foray into this universe for a while.

Three hours later, Clark darted back in through the window of his bedroom and shut the curtains.  )

Title:  Hereaftermath
Fandom:  DCAU (toonverse) - Justice League/JLU
Characters:  Bruce Wayne (Batman), Diana (Wonder Woman), Lois Lane, J'onn J'onnz (the Martian Manhunter), Kara Kent (Supergirl), Ray Palmer (the Atom), Dick Grayson (Nightwing), multiple various JLU and DCAU heroes and villains, Clark Kent (Superman) in absentia for now
Pairings:   SM/LL, BM/WW - but only background
Genre:  Friendship, h/c
Warnings:  (apparent) character death.  Spoilers for the JLU episode Hereafter, as well as various basic DCAU spoilers such as World's Finest, etc.
Summary:  In the wake of Hereafter, the friends and families of Clark Kent/Superman must learn to live with the knowledge that Superman is dead.  One man refuses to believe this, and while balancing the aftershocks of Superman's death and its effects on the League and the world, sets out to prove it.
A/N:  The two-part JLU episode Hereafter left far too many plot holes and unfulfilled details and scenes.  This is my attempt to make a researched, scientific story detailing the enormity of details needing to be addressed with Superman's death as well as the scientific processes Batman would have gone through in an effort to discover what really had happened to him.  Story begins with Superman's disappearance and progresses to the night after his return to present-day Metropolis, studying the effects of his death upon those who were associated with him, and detailing one man's determination to prove the truth.  Not an AU, in technicality, more of what I believe might - or should - have accompanied the glimpses we got in the episode.

Further AN:  I really, really want to get this fic going.  I have the first three chapters and the last two done (out of twelveish that I have outlined), and want to start posting so that I will have motivation to finish the in-between chapters.  That being said, updates might be a bit slow at first but comments and reviews will probably give me a virtual kick in the pants to get it moving.  :)

I've finished a LJ mood theme using screencaps from the DCAU (BTAS, STAS, TNBA, JL and JLU, BB).

--

1.  Download zip file here, and the best tutorial for mood theme installation is here, if you don't know how to install.

2.  Images are 100 pixels by 50.

3.  Please credit [info]kcscribbler if used.

4.  Images include all LJ mood themes (I think), plus over 30 alternates (labeled extras) for your mixing preferences.  Ships include minor SMLL and BMWW.

5.  All moods may be seen below.

I had a nice Photomanip-background and better spacing and so on for the theme card, but the plague upon my house my laptop shut down the program and I lost it.  So the card is a cheesy automated script of the mood pics and a boring setup.  Whatev.  I'm not about to recreate it at this point.

Prompt #21 - Worry

Episode: Tabula Rasa

“If you don’t stop pacing, I’m gonna get Diana’s lasso and tie you to that chair.”

“This is not funny! Do you have any idea how hard he hit you with that?”

Superman sighed, adjusting his new cape. That had been a bad few minutes, when after Luthor was in custody he finally realized his suit was still embedded with enough Kryptonite-dust to make him pretty dizzy. He was lucky that the chunk hadn’t been bigger, and also that Bruce had realized what happened after he fell from fifty feet up while heading home.

“You didn’t know,” he now remonstrated with a very angry Batman.

“I should have. He got our strengths, our weaknesses, turned the weaknesses into strengths. I should have seen that.”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, Bruce,” he sighed. “If I can forget about it, why can’t you?”

A growl. “Because it’s too important.”

“Aww…”

“Shut up, Clark.”

Prompt #18 - Childish

Episode: Wild Cards

He awoke with a splitting headache and the certainty that his room at Wayne Manor was not where he had passed out last night.

As his door opened, he rolled away from an annoying beam of sunlight.

“Master Bruce?”

If the room had not suddenly begun to spin around when he sat up, he would have had a better comeback than a moaning flop back into the pillows.

The elderly butler tsked sympathetically. “Yes, you were in rather nasty shape when Master Kent brought you home last night.”

“What happened, Alfred?” he muttered, hoping Joker had been incapacitated for at least a week.

A rustling bundle thumped beside him. “I believe, sir, that you shall find all the particulars on the front page of this morning’s Daily Planet. Shall I bring you some coffee?”

He wondered if throwing a pillow at an old man was as infantile as it sounded.

The Holmes muse, it has finally left.   Completely.  Ciao, adios, totally gone.  I barely have an interest in reading it anymore.  Weirdest thing.  It's just not there.  I know it'll come back, but meanwhile it's a little disconcerting.  :(

Anyhow, though, maybe I just need a break, time to try something new.  I've been unhappy with both my fiction and my fanfiction lately, so perhaps a new fandom will jumpstart my general desire to write, and help me from falling into a stylistic rut and so on.  We shall see.

Because I'm really finding writing for Justice League and the Animated DC serieses to be far more fun than I thought.  I haven't had characters and their voices in my head like this since a long time ago, when I could hear Clive Merrison and Michael Williams's Holmes and Watson dictating everything I wrote.  It's actually quite an awesome thing, to really hear voices and see something taking shape that you didn't intend originally - and it's been forever since that really happened to me.

That being said, I'm working on another oneshot!  *yayz*  And still trying to come up with an idea for an actual story.  I have plenty of oneshot ideas from the JLU and other serieses, but I want a real original story.   Just need to come up with a plotline that isn't cheesy (too much so, anyhow).

So here we go:

Title: Unnamed as of yet
Characters:  Superman, Batman, mentions of J'onn J'onzz
Rating:  K+
Summary:  Takes place immediately after the JL episode Twilight.  References STAS episode Legacy.  Spoilers for both, and if you haven't seen at least the JL episode you won't have a clue what the heck's going on.

Prompt #17 - Found
Episode: Doomsday Sanction

He was drifting, and not just in-and-out of hypothermic unconsciousness. The tidal wave had carried him far from San Vaquero. How far, he didn’t know; he couldn’t turn his head.

A sudden rush of wind, and something – someone – plummeted into the ocean beside him, lifting him free of the flotation into the just-as-cold air.

“J’onn, Diana. Yeah, I found him…” Ah, that would be Clark, brilliantly stating the obvious. “No, he’s…wait, let me check…yeah, broken ribs at least…you know he lines that cowl with lead, I can’t tell. Should I move him?”

“Yes,” he managed to mutter sarcastically after a faint splutter of seawater.

The arms holding him tightened in surprise. “Bruce? Can you hear me? The volcano’s erupted, but everyone got clear. I’m gonna get you out of here now, okay?”

He managed a non-committal mmmph, and relaxed; that was all he had been determinedly remaining conscious to hear.

And a small plug for the final draft of my very first JLU oneshot, Regenesis.

kcscribbler: (SB have to be the hero)
First, this new vid  (<3s), with amazing clip choices from all three DCAUs (STAS, BTAS, and JLU - I love continuity!):

And finally, my very first attempt (still in a rough draft state) of a JLU oneshot.   I've not gone beyond filling in missing pieces in the JL and JLU continuity yet, but maybe someday I'll get the nerve to try something longer.  ^^  Here's hoping it doesn't sound like Victorian English anymore, lol:

Title:  None yet
Characters:  Batman, Superman, mentions of other Justice League
Rating:  K+
Summary:  Missing scene from the end of Secret Origins, the three-part pilot JL episode.  Therefore, spoilers from that episode.  And non-DCAU watchers may not get the references made to events in the episode.

kcscribbler: (LJ fanfiction)

So I finally had to take a break this afternoon, because after working for five hours on a design project I had HAD IT UP TO HERE, so to speak.  Did manage to keep my lunch down, though - so hoorah for that small victory.  ^^  Went in for the teacher's meeting, made some copies, and then came home to work on this project that has to be done by the time I leave for vacation on Monday next.  Photo shoot most of the afternoon on Saturday, and church on Sunday - so really I have to get it done by Friday.  So glad this weekend finally got over, and only one more week to go.

However, stress headaches and flu bugs or whatever-that-was aside, the fact is that freelancing at the moment pays better than my school paycheck, and I have to save money.  (more on my car problems later if I get bored again)

So...back to break.  I think I've finally managed to stop writing JLU fic that sounds like Victorian English, lol, and am rewriting that horrible oneshot of a few days back.   Have another interesting JLU/Batman Beyond crossover idea that may or may not see paper if the muse continues to be cooperative.

Still am working on drabble meme answers for [livejournal.com profile] montytwain and [livejournal.com profile] janeturenne , though really I covered MT's request in my Memory arc, just not in the format (or length, lol) he asked for.  The Written Front is still sluggish, but I have a whole folder of ideas from reading some books on my Kindle about ambulance drivers on the Western Front in early WWI.  That's the most amazing thing about the Kindle, I think, because books that are long out of print and would cost (this one I have) $85.00 on Amazon, I can get for less than $10 on my Kindle.  Pretty cool.  Oh, and Silent Night by Stanley Weintraub!  *loves this book*  I will so have fun with that when Christmas 1914 comes around.

I fully intend to get with PGF over my vacation and do some serious headway on A Connection to Life.  We plotted out quite a bit the other night, but haven't had time to more than rough-sketch a couple of chapters.  And we're not going to post until we know we'll have time and incentive to finish it.  But we will finish it.  *bounce*  *is excited*

I've had a rough draft of a chapter for Agreement and Disputation sitting open on my laptop for over a week now, and just haven't dragged myself in to edit it.  *sigh*  No time, really, to do much other than drabbles lately - seems like my muse has ADD at the moment and can't concentrate for much longer than that.

--

On that note, three sentences  (Holmes fandom, Table Gamma, 20/50 now):

#36 – Laugh

Unaccustomed to hearing aught but three-year-old ghosts each night, when she this time was woken – not by phantom violins or half-remembered voices, but by a crash and not-entirely-sober laughter – she remembered the unbelievable events of the spring evening, and returned to sleep smiling.

#41 – Wait

Though his younger brother’s help with the Room 40 project was certainly one of England’s greatest War resources, during lengthy department meetings Mycroft could only moan inwardly and hope that the powers-that-be would not notice Sherlock’s attention drifting from state documents to a war-office-censored letter stealthily pulled from his inside jacket pocket.

#22 – Journey

He traveled far in three years, but no location produced the same combination of horror and homesickness as did standing on the desert plains of Afghanistan – imagining a ten-year-old battle, and just as quickly trying to forget what his memory could all too easily recreate based upon snatches of half-heard nightmares long ago.

kcscribbler: (B working)

Prompt #16 - Give

Episode: Comfort and Joy (with a nod to BTAS)

Wally’s “Why don’t we put the Watchtower on autopilot? Who’s gonna try to destroy the world on Christmas Eve?” had been countered with a complete detailing of villains (including Joker, from experience) who would, gladly.

Superman had given him that look, the one that made him wish he too were a Martian and could phase through the floor, and then left with J’onn.

It was not until late that night that he finally looked up from the screen showing snowy Gotham, and noticed a package on the counter.

Nightwing said you love this movie, read the tag, in Clark Kent’s half-shorthand scrawl. Merry Christmas, Bruce.

Opening the gift, he looked at the cover of the vid-disc inside. It’s a Wonderful Life.

He would kill both of them.

But first he’d turn off the security cameras so no one could ever prove he had watched the movie on the oversized monitor.

kcscribbler: (SB Save)

Prompt #15 - Save

Episode: Panic in the Sky

They hovered out of sight while Waller entered. He was still ticked (he’d worked for years to regain people’s trust after Darkseid’s brainwashing, and Luthor had just [literally] blown that to kingdom come).

Five minutes later, Diana was blocking glass shards with upraised wrists. A plummeting spiral of blue-and-gray, a free-falling grappling-hook, and –

“Superm-“

“I’ve got him!” he shouted, streaking after the plunging black cape.

--

Of all the luck, he thought grimly. He’d expected to be killed someday in Gotham by a gangster, not by being knocked through a Metropolis window – by Lex Luthor, yes.

He was calculating his chances of surviving landing on his feet, when a red-and-blue blur swooped him out of mid-air.

“You need new equipment,” the Man of Steel observed mischievously.

He glared. “You think?”

“I do, sometimes.”

He tried to keep the scowl in place, but finally, folding his arms, sat back and grinned.

-----------

There now, that felt a lot better.  Been a loooooong time since I wrote JLU fic, mainly because anything I tried to write sounded like late 1800s Victorian British English.  (gee, I wonder why)

Now for bed.  *sigh*  Stupid people today.  Not cool.  Long day tomorrow.  More not cool.

Vacation one week from Monday.  Will be very cool.  *doggedly continues until then*
